Adam (tree)

The Adam Tree is the 21st largest giant sequoia in the world. It is located in Mountain Home Grove, a sequoia grove in Sequoia National Forest in the Sierra Nevada in eastern California. The Adam tree was named around 1884 by Jesse Hoskins, who was also responsible for the room cut out of the Hercules tree which is also in Mountain Home Grove. The Adam tree is among the largest trees in the grove, but three other trees in the grove are larger. Wendell Flint and Mike Law measured the tree in 1978 and calculated a volume of 35,016 cubic feet (991.5 m3), with a girth of 95 feet (29 m).
